Family Walk

One day, several weeks ago, we took a brief walk out to Tamar Island. The walk is part of the Tamar Wetlands on the Tamar River.

The funky-shaped building is the Tamar Wetlands Visitor's Center. The center has information on life in the wetlands, paintings, CD's, etc. It is a very nice building to look around in and the staff are always polite and helpful.

Mt. Barrow from the wetlands walk

Julia loves going for walks and watching the new outdoor sights go by.

Old junk, maybe even convict junk

Black swans are common.

There are lots of bird tracks in the mud while the tide is out.

Looking back at Launceston proper from the wetlands.

After a bit of a walk down a board walk and a couple small bridges, you reach Tamar Island. The island has some old buildings, some unique trees planted by settlers many years ago, BBQs, picnic tables and toilets. We hope to go back again for a picnic some time. We would have more pics of the island but the batteries died; sorry.

The last pic we got was of Little One sleeping during the walk back.

This is Durell. Hi...
I thought of you the other day when I found out that one of the Nederdites that work next door is G.H. Kersten's great-grandson. Monkey boy has posterity...
