Short Vacation to the Sea

Two weeks ago, our family took a little trip to a small town on the Northern coast of Tassie called Tomahawk. Some friends from the congregation have a cottage or "shack" there. Tomahawk is an amazingly beautiful place and it is certainly not a tourist destination. Here are some pictures from our brief time away.

This is are marvelous home away from home, even though it isn't "ours," in Tomahawk. The ocean is just on the other side of the road and there is a beautiful view of the ocean from the porch and front windows.

An old whale bone the owner found on the beach is set up in the yard. I found it a very helpful landmark.

The little one enjoyed just hangin'.

Sooo cute!!!!

Here's Daddy trying to get Julia to smile some more.

Martha keeping up on feeding times, potty times, and naps in her journal.

Julia met fire for the first time in Tomahawk and was absolutely mesmerized by it.

We went for a late night walk on the beach during low tide.

We went out for a walk the next day.

We found a little crab running around.

The little island is only an island as the tide comes in. When the tide is out you can walk all the way out to it.

There are a few mountains in the distance.

This picture was taken on the road walking back toward the cottage.

Martha reading Curious George to Julia.

Terry reading the latest PhD on Herman Hoeksema he found on the net: Herman Hoeksema: A Theological Biography by Patrick Baskwell. It's a must-read for those concerned with Hoeksema - his life, his influence, previous evaluations of him, and his impact.

Big smiles!

Daddy and Julia hanging out in the morning.

In other news, the paper work for Martha and Julia's trip back to the U.S. continues. We have applied for an Oz passport for Julia seeing as she has dual citizenship. Martha's passport has been sent to immigration to have her visa evidenced in her passport. Now we begin looking for the plane tickets!

We hope to head to Hobart tomorrow and then have Presbytery on Saturday.

Lord's blessing to all!!

Howdy from Arkansas...

Glad to see you getting a little R&R. What a lovely place to spend some quiet, quality family time! Thanks for the pictures, pictures, pictures... Reminds me of when Dan and Pete were little - then over the years less and less for the other "sibs." Hopefully that won't happen in your family in this digital, blogging, and whatever technology comes next era...

Love from the Ozarks,
Dad, Beth, and Buddy

Its so nice to have all these photos of you (especially the little one).

Actually, I'm quite jealous because I have great memories of staying up there (I think maybe in the same shack, but I'm not sure)and having some great fellowship with some of my best girlfriends before they all started getting married, having families, and moving across the world.

Its even better in summer : )
