Grandma & Grandpa Knaut's Visit

We had a wonderful time with Terry's mom and stepdad while they were here from April 12 to 24. So relaxing that we didn't take half the pictures we should have, unfortunately. I think the best parts were getting to spend time with them as two couples in the evenings and watching them interact with Julia. She loved the extra attention!
reading Curious George with Grandma - check out that cheeky grin!

Julia loves reading and helping turn the pages.

We spent a day at the Tasmania Zoo so that Mom and Andy could see some unique Tasmanian and Australian animals up close.

Here's a good ol' Tassie devil. They became fiercely competitive as feeding time approached.

Mom and Andy worked the camera and videocamera respectively.

crunching through bones and all

We enjoyed the day heaps.

Julia decided she'd pass.

Nothing like feeding zoo animals to bring out the kid in you.

We made it down to Salamanca on the Saturday they were here.

We were pretty thorough in our perusal of the art, craft, and produce at the market, but Julia has yet to learn the joy of shopping.

reading magazines with Grandpa is much more fun!

These are a sampling of pictures from our jaunt to Port Arthur the day before they left. I took much fewer photos this time than the first time I was there!

Julia chillin' with the men.

I have found out where Terry got the tendency to close his eyes for photos.

playing with Grandpa - she just loves to kick or drum with her feet lately

These are a few pictures from the model village of Old Hobart Town in Richmond. We tried to take them there the day we were at Salamanca (and Mt. Wellington) but ended up arriving after everything had shut down. So here's a little virtual tour:

The man skinning a kangaroo is one of four things you are supposed to look for in the model village. The figurines are fairly intricate, all handmade, and sometimes humorously posed.

Where's Waldo?

Well, that's all we caught. In other news, Julia has just had her first birthday - and a happy one it was at that. But more on that to come. Stay tuned!

Looks beautiful! Glad you could enjoy time with family. I don't think Julia could get any more beautiful...seriously. Terry's hat is looking very pastoral :).
